The Permit to Fly\u00a0was issued by ENAC, the Italian Civil Aviation Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the first General Aviation aircraft with a parallel hybrid configuration to take flight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"441\" src=\"https:\/\/news.e-flight-journal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/5593353d-987a-7c82-24b8-b82735311a6b.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.e-flight-journal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/5593353d-987a-7c82-24b8-b82735311a6b.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.e-flight-journal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/5593353d-987a-7c82-24b8-b82735311a6b-300x165.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.e-flight-journal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/5593353d-987a-7c82-24b8-b82735311a6b-768x423.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption>H3PS hybrid electric airplane is based on P2010 of Tecnam<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The flight was performed by Tecnam\u2019s Chief Experimental Test Pilot Lorenzo De Stefano, with Tecnam, Rolls-Royce and Rotax Teams on the ground assisting in this historic moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tecnam P2010 H3PS is powered by a 104kW Rotax 915 IS engine coupled with a 30kW Rolls-Royce electric motor, totaling 134kW (180hp) powertrain in a fully integrated parallel hybrid configuration. As such, this four-seat aircraft is first of its kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">H3PS, which stands for \u201cHigh Power High Scalability Aircraft Hybrid Powertrain\u201d, is a project funded under the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. Launched in 2018, the project has reached its objectives.
