• Silent Air Taxi: Another Urban Air Mobility solution

As electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and urban air mobility (UAM) operation are under the spotlight now, the electric propulsion application in fixed wing designs are making steady progress as well. Instead of targeting the short distance inter-city UAM market as eVTOL are designed for, fixed wing electric airplanes
take the advantages of higher efficiency and longer range
to aim for the intra-city commute market. A German startup called e.SAT unveiled its Silent Air Taxi design at Aachen-Merzbrück Airfield near Aachen in Germany on June 11, 2019.

  • Paris Airshow 2019 review: e-Commuters, a takeover and more

The number of electric projects at the Paris Airshow on
the le Bourget Airport in 2019 is growing constantly. Companies like Safran and Daher entering the field of electric propulsion, and also Boeing and Airbus have their eVTOLs at the display next to their core business Airliners. But events were the “talk in town” of this show: The
israeli Eviation did show the prototype of its full electric commuter Alice (see also Interview page 20 in eFlight Journal 3-2019 magazine) and Siemens announced to sell its eAircraft division completely to Rolls Royce.
